There have been various forms of dollhouses complete with furnishings, people, livestock and pets for many thousands of years. These miniature houses actually go back into the years of the Egyptians. However, they were not constructed as toys for play purposes but a part of their religious purposes. The earliest examples of dollhouses were found five thousand years ago in Egyptian tombs. Their dollhouses included replicas of their servants, pets, livestock, and household possessions. Continue reading “What You May Not Know About Dollhouses”
Crafting Video Tutorials Index
I am always looking for fresh new ideas in craftwork. Unfortunately, this can be rather time consuming. Therefore, I decided to make a list of various craft sites with video tutorials. This will make things easier than wallowing through search engines ever time. Search engines are fantastic but can bring up a lot of unrelated items that you are not exactly what you are looking for. So, making a web page with lists just makes life a whole lot simpler for me and hopefully you. Bookmark the page and you will have it at your finger tips as well. Kid Fun … The Best Fun
Once a week, I go over to see my granddaughters, ages 4 and 9, to do arts and crafts. A fun time to spend with the granddaughters who just love the artistic side of life. The best day of the week. We needed some fun and refreshing projects to do so I began scouting around the Internet for ideas. Since Easter is around the corner, thought it would fun to make some new decorations for this year. I plugged popsicle sticks and clothes pins into Google and came up with quite a few wonderful projects I think they will like. Continue reading “Kid Fun … The Best Fun”

I will post them in a contrasting color making them stand out as new. I hope you enjoy.

You Made What?!
For every person alive, there is a creative idea. Some follow trends while others are way off the beaten path. Here are some of the creative minds that have utilized very different materials with amazing results.
Wang Huaping is living in Tianjin where he is a well known artist. Carving eggs is his specialty which requires a very light touch so as not to crack the egg. In 2010, he increased his already extensive collection by taking up portraits. To celebrate the Soccer World Cup, he began to carve portraits of the players. Along with this, he also carved mascots and logos of the World Cup.
Oddities in Crafting – Human Genius
You bet! I have more oddities. However, these oddities are physical constructions straight out of the human imagination not Mother Nature. Some people just go above and beyond with unusual and amazing ways to express their creative ideas and capabilities. Let nothing cease to amaze you, as soon before your very eyes, people pull some real oddities from the inner workings of their minds. Follow me as I take you on a journey, barely skimming the surface I might add, of just a few of the people who have created from the genius within.
Mesmerized By Steampunk
Because I love hot air balloons and wandering around YouTube, I discovered a lot of art projects related to Steampunk. During my search for light bulb hot air balloons, I came across this incredible version of hot air balloon which was silver. had many odd gadgets added onto it, and looked from another world. The fellow who created this piece said it was Steampunk. Okay, I need toknow more. I found Steampunk fascinating in its designs. It was then, I decided to look into origins and reasons for this specific style. Of course, I had heard about Steampunk for years and seen many a fantastic art project related to the genre. I just loved the style. So, what exactly was I being enticed by? Continue reading “Mesmerized By Steampunk”
Save The Bunnies! ! !
Whoooops! Oh No! Plop, bang, splat. Did you know resin figurines splinter and shatter when they fall on hard surfaces. Very interesting and unusual to see all those colorful fragments. Very unproductive and cost inefficient to say the least. Another lesson from the school of hard knocks.
This is exactly what happened to the cute Peter rabbit figurine yesterday. Oh woe. The dear little rabbit in the lower right-hand corner lost his battle. It was time for the final gloss coating on the bottom. When I went to pick him up, it was at the wrong angle. He twisted awkwardly in my finger tips. It then went catapulting through the air. Almost caught it in the crook of my elbow but abruptly bounced off crashing to its demise. He did land on his feet though. However, the right foot snapped off with all sorts of weird shards and shave-fragments over the floor. The floor is porcelain tiling on a cement slab. Yup, you got it. Harder than hard. Was not a chance in for the poor little guy. He has gone to ‘bunny heaven’ in the sky. Yup, I broke and I own it.
Day 3 – Jigsaw Puzzle Therapy
Does the day ever become too busy or chaotic you just want to hide in the closet? Has your brain hit overload with work or people or whatever is occurring in life? After a long period of painting or working on the computer with pictures or blogging, too many chores or whatever, I get antsy, distracted or develop these huge brain freezes hampering any further productivity. It makes me want to scream and go hide. Rather than causing a ruckus in the neighborhood with my clamoring, a different approach was necessary. Not to mention I would scare the fur right off Little Dog. This is when my joy of jigsaw puzzles saved me with a relaxing diversion. I call it Jigsaw Puzzle Therapy, original name right, LOL.
