This is exactly what happened to the cute Peter rabbit figurine yesterday. Oh woe. The dear little rabbit in the lower right-hand corner lost his battle. It was time for the final gloss coating on the bottom. When I went to pick him up, it was at the wrong angle. He twisted awkwardly in my finger tips. It then went catapulting through the air. Almost caught it in the crook of my elbow but abruptly bounced off crashing to its demise. He did land on his feet though. However, the right foot snapped off with all sorts of weird shards and shave-fragments over the floor. The floor is porcelain tiling on a cement slab. Yup, you got it. Harder than hard. Was not a chance in for the poor little guy. He has gone to ‘bunny heaven’ in the sky. Yup, I broke and I own it.
In the market now for a very thick carpet to put under my working area. One that an office chair can roll over without a struggle, is easily cleaned from debris such as plaster dust or sanding dust, one that is washable in case I slop a dab of paint which I’ve occasionally been known to do. Another perk would be cost efficiency. In other words, I am looking for a Miracle Rug. Know where I can find one? Keeping my eyes peeled when I go to the store later. Any comments or suggestions you might have, please feel free to let me know.
Fortunately for me, the rabbit I call Uncle Wiggily is safe and sound. He is the larger of the two rabbits. I am becoming very fond of him. Going to take a lot of courage to put him up for sale. I bought him a long long time ago and forget just where I did. Somehow he got stuck in the back of a storage bin disappearing for quite a while. When I did find it, all the memories of Uncle Wiggily and Howard Garis came flooding back. If you are interested, see my blog relating that story a few days back. Truly a pleasure painting this guy. Needless to say, I handle him with the utmost care. Truly a disaster should I drop that one, too.
Save the Bunnies!
It is very frustrating because a lot of work is put into a project and in a split second can be gone. Sad.
Nonetheless, I carry on. Grateful to say that I have a lot more to get busy on. Plaster Easter eggs are lined up to paint, as well as lambs. Cupcakes and butterflies that will be refrigerator magnets, ceramic birds figurines (probably blue birds when they are painted) and all sorts of nice springy things. After all, my azaleas burst into full bloom January 21st! I am feeling spring and do not care what Puxsutawney Phil says. Humph to you Phil.

Though I lost my little rabbit, I once again learn a lesson. Carry on and smile.
